Sustainability Pioneers: Finding Our Power PREMIERE & Sustainable Sipping
The 10th and final episode of Sustainability Pioneers follows how the Frick Environmental Center rises from the ashes and how the City of Pittsburgh takes the high road after president Trump reneges on the Paris climate treaty. We meet Bill Peduto, the mayor of Pittsburgh, and Renee Lertzman, PhD, climate, energy and climate change consultant and engagement strategist, for their insights on to help people move from climate melancholia to climate action.
A community conversation, facilitated by the filmmaker Kirsi Jansa, will follow after the screening. Then drink, mingle, and learn outdoors (or under a covered space, if raining) during this 21+ event.

Sustainability Pioneers Community Conversations 5 x 2 hour class
Where: Frick Environmental Center, 2005 Beechwood Boulevard, Pittsburgh
When: Mondays November 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and December 4th at 6 – 8 pm
Climate change is a challenging topic to face. Yet, an inspiring and empowering reality is emerging as a response to climate change. In this interactive class, participants will learn about sustainability, energy, climate science and climate solutions through presentations by Rachel Carson scholar Patricia DeMarco. Documentary filmmaker Kirsi Jansa will screen her Sustainability Pioneers short documentaries showcasing communities and states taking bold climate action. The five week course will empower participants to have constructive conversations about global warming and make changes for a sustainable future. Patricia DeMarco and Kirsi Jansa are both visiting researchers at the Institute for Green Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
